I grew up in Wynnum, a bayside suburb of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia – lots of fun on the beach as a kid. I worked in an iron foundry from the age of fourteen. Wouldn't recommend this job to my worst enemy.
At twenty-one, married my childhood sweeteart, Lyn, and joined the regular army. Served for six years with the Royal Australian Engineers rising to the rank of sergeant. Matriculated by correspondence, and upon my discharge joined the Australian Public Service rising to a management position.
Upon my retirement, I enrolled at the University of the Sunshine Coast (where we now live), gaining an Honours Degree in Political Science and International Studies. The writing bug hit me and that's pretty much it.
We have two children, Rhonda and Scott, and two grandchildren, Carly and Jack.
